Parents' Association

Holy Child encourages parent participation in the life of the school and offers parents of all students the opportunity to become involved at many levels. We invite you to enjoy your daughter’s years at Holy Child by volunteering in various capacities.  What a great way to join in your daughter’s experience while meeting new people!

The Parents’ Association sponsors a number of activities and encourages parents to become involved in the planning, execution, and enjoyment of each one. Some parents choose to take on leadership roles, and others support their daughters in activities by working behind the scenes. The enthusiastic support of our current families helps enrich their connection to Holy Child and many stay involved long after their daughters graduate.

Welcome to the Holy Child family!  We are so pleased you will be joining us this fall. Between now and the start of school, we know you will have questions, and we are here to help make your transition to Holy Child as easy as possible!  The Holy Child Parents Association (HCPA) is a fabulous parent resource for families throughout the year.  The HCPA encourages your participation in the life of the school and offers parents of all students the opportunity to get involved at various levels.

Over the summer you will be receiving a “Holy Child A to Z” packet from us, which will help you navigate your first year at the school and answer many of the questions you may have.  In addition, every new family has been carefully matched with an existing Holy Child family through our Tiger Ambassador Program (TAP).  Your Ambassador family will be reaching out to you in the coming weeks to welcome you and will be a great resource for you to turn to during the school year.

Holy Child is a warm and welcoming community and we hope that you have already experienced this feeling during your time on campus.  There are many ways to get involved, from being a Homeroom Parent to volunteering for one of our annual Fundraisers such as the Tiger Trot or the Spring Gala.  We also have opportunities for parents to volunteer in the Tiger Shop, our school store that is open every day before school and at lunch, and to help with Hot Lunch.  You will be receiving additional information from us over the summer about all these ways to volunteer and how to sign up.

I am looking forward to meeting and welcoming each of you to the school, and I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions you may have over the summer or at any time during the school year.  Welcome to Holy Child, and Go Tigers!

Sincerely,

Claire Slabaugh

Review the many opportunities you have to be involved in your daughter’s school

Be involved at Holy Child: as a volunteer, a committee chair, or a behind the scenes helper, something for every interest is offered. Every role, no matter how big or small, ultimately helps to enrich each Holy Child student.

Ongoing opportunities all year

Parents assist and serve Hot Lunch Monday through Friday, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Sign up for once a month, once a week, or as often as you would like to see your daughter and her friends while helping serve hot lunch. Please contact Food Service Director Maureen Koch to discuss a day(s) you are available.

Tiger Shop
Staff the school store and visit with the girls. The Tiger Shop is open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. daily, 11:30 – 1:00 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, and on additional days or evenings for special parent events. Volunteer once a month, weekly, or whenever your schedule allows.

General assistance is always needed to shelve books, file, and perform general tasks. Please contact our Librarian, Claire Drummond to let her know of your availability.

Special Mailings
Assist by labeling, stuffing envelopes, or any other tasks that may require extra help from volunteers. Please contact Suzi Montes de Oca if you would like to be contacted over the course of the year when these arise.

Refreshments
There are plenty of opportunities to provide or bake treats for conferences, lunches and other get-togethers throughout the year. Please watch for emails about these various school events.

Happenings

Each Wednesday, the Happenings is sent to parents. It’s a way to know the top events, news and other helps along the way. If you’ve missed a newsletter or want to see a quick view of our archives.

Tiger Shop

School supplies, class-specific items, school sports supplies, uniform must-haves (socks, gym uniform, sweatshirts…), spirit items, and a whole array of school novelty items are sold in the Tiger Shop. And, we'll have product online soon.

Hot Lunch

Ask any student about our hot lunch program, and you’ll hear raves. Their parents echo the sentiment, both for the healthy options and ease of ordering. Vignola’s Italian Gourmet continues to provide freshly prepared lunches every day during the school year.

If the company matches, you may be able to access the form directly through the search. Follow the set procedure, and Holy Child will be happy to assist you and answer your questions. The impact of your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled!

Some companies also match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses.
