Mental Health Awareness

Over the last few months, the school has been working on ways to raise mental health awareness and to provide tools for the students to stay informed and healthy. In January, we welcomed a speaker from Mental Health America who spoke with parents and the students around mental illness and how to help those around you that may be dealing with an issue. The students really enjoyed the speaker and there were productive discussions on campus around mental health awareness after the fact. Below are upcoming events we’ll host to continue the Mental Awareness Series we’ve developed.

Thursday, February 22nd: Parents and alums watched a viewing of Angst, the movie at 7 p.m. in McShain Library. Angst is a 56-minute film and virtual reality experience that explores anxiety its causes, effects, and what we can do about it. Angst has been featured on The Today Show, ABC News, People Magazine, Men's Health, and Associated Press.

Week of April 9-13 | Stress Less Week: Students participated in various activities throughout the week with the goal of introducing them to the myriad ways you can help manage and reduce stress. Each girl finished the week with at least one stress-management tool she could use.

May|Mental Health Awareness Month: We kicked off with Homeroom in the gym dedicated to mental health awareness and executed fundraisers for Mental Health America throughout the month.
