Fathers Club

The Fathers Club is a very active and present organization at Holy Child, open to all past and present Holy Child dads. The Club’s focus is on service projects, also sponsors dad-daughter outings, assists with school event logistics, and helps the school administration in providing Holy Child students with the finest facilities, equipment, professional help and coaching.

The biggest service project undertaking involves the Wilkins Avenue Women’s Assessment Center in Rockville, Maryland; the Fathers Club in conjunction with the Parents Association, provides all lunches and dinner to the residents for one full week in December.

The Fathers Club also participates at the Gonzaga Business Network Career Fair by volunteering at Gonzaga the night of the event, the first Wednesday in January from 6-9 p.m. to assist with resume review, mock interviews, greet exhibitors and young alum attendees. More than 80 businesses, government agencies and non-profits who are interested in providing internships or full-time paid positions to young alums participate. Alums from Gonzaga, Stone Ridge, Holy Cross, and Visitation are also invited. Approximately 400 alums attend each year.

The highlight of the year is the annual Father-Daughter Communion Breakfast, a long-standing school tradition that will be held at school, in the Chapel, followed by a hearty breakfast in the Gym. The Fathers Club recognizes students for their service – all fathers and daughters are encouraged to attend. During the breakfast, a short, inspiring talk given by a Holy Child alumna whose career has encompassed community service, is featured.

Dads also support the school’s largest fundraising event, the Gala, by sponsoring or underwriting some portion of the Gala, purchasing an ad in the program, and/or donating items for the silent or live auction, and, of course, attending the casual event in early March each year.

All Holy Child fathers are invited to attend the Fathers Club meetings. Often we have speakers, and always we enjoy dinner, social networking, discuss fun outings and community service activities for fathers and their daughters and receive updates from Dr. Shannon Gomez on the goings on at school and areas where the school might need our help.

Meetings are held five times during the school year and include a light dinner and adult refreshments. Elections are held in the spring for the offices of President, Treasurer and two Members-at-Large.

Hot Lunch

Ask any student about our hot lunch program, and you’ll hear raves. Their parents echo the sentiment, both for the healthy options and ease of ordering. Vignola’s Italian Gourmet continues to provide freshly prepared lunches every day during the school year.
