Holy Child Students Host Annual Best Buddies Halloween Party with Potomac Community Resources
“My favorite thing about Best Buddies is that every meeting you go to or any PCR event or Christmas or Halloween party, it doesn’t matter whether or not you have a learning difference, developmental difference, intellectual difference because we’re all the same and that’s how we should all be treated with equal dignity.”
- Rachel Russell '19, Best Buddies Chapter President
In preparation for the annual Halloween party, Holy Child’s Best Buddies club members (grades 8-12) met with PCR’s Respite Care & Community Outreach Director, Melissa Wyman. The students completed a training on appropriate, inclusive language and behavior and assembled candy bags that were given to the PCR members at the party. On Saturday, October 27, 2018, 40 Holy Child student & staff volunteers helped host over 300 PCR members and caretakers for a spectacular event. As one PCR volunteer noted, the party brings out the very best in all involved—PCR members and Holy Child volunteers. All in all, the party was a massive success and another opportunity for students to be women of #ActionsNotWords.
