Visual Arts
Visual art students are encouraged to build on existing skills and deepen their understanding as they develop their artwork. Through design‑based projects and visits to local art galleries in the Washington D.C. area, students explore how artists and designers engage with and respond to the world around them. With focused studio time, individualized instruction, and opportunities for peer and self‑reflection, students strengthen problem‑solving and critical thinking skills—growing in confidence, skill, and understanding of their creative voice.

National Art Honor Society
The National Art Honor Society (NAHS) recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement, enthusiasm, and dedication in the visual arts. Members are selected based on their artistic excellence and commitment to the arts community and are invited to deepen their art practice through collaborative projects, service, and leadership opportunities both within the school and beyond.

Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the nation's longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative young artists. Holy Child has earned over several recognitions including Gold Keys and Honorable mentions. Nine Holy Child artworks recognized for the Maryland Region. Gold Key works advanced to the National Competition.
