Dear Friends,
In 1961 when the Society of the Holy Child Jesus opened Holy Child in Potomac, the Sisters hoped to create an academic environment that reflected the educational philosophy of its foundress, Cornelia Connelly. I am proud to say that the spirit of Cornelia still lives on in our classrooms today where the dedicated faculty and staff strive to personalize the experience of every student, where students are engaged by their teachers and where they learn to be compassionate young women.
It is difficult for me to capture the spirit of Holy Child in words. There is a feeling experienced only when visiting campus, the echo of the students' laughter, the enthusiasm of the faculty and the leadership of the administration. There are not too many places in the world that are both scholarly and fun-loving, passionate and focused. To me, Holy Child is unique because of its extraordinary ability to balance all aspects of life. Holy Child students find joy in their school dances, in their service to others, on the athletic fields and in their ability to entertain one another. As a graduate of Holy Child schools, I cannot imagine what my life would have been like personally and professionally without the gift of a Holy Child education.
I urge you to browse the website and catch a glimpse of what goes on at Holy Child every day. Whether you are a prospective family learning about Holy Child for the first time, a parent using this tool as a resource of information or an alumna reconnecting with old friends, welcome to Holy Child!
Warmly,
Maureen Appel
