Admissions Process

APPLY
The admission process begins well before the application deadline. We encourage you to review the enclosed materials and plan accordingly.

VISIT
After you have reviewed our admissions materials, please call the Admissions Office to arrange a student visiting day. Upper School students are required to spend a full day with a student in the grade for which they are applying. Middle School students are required to spend a morning in the grade for which they are applying. Visiting days fill up very quickly so please schedule early.

APPLICATION FEE
A non-refundable application fee of $50 ($100 U.S. dollars for international applications) should accompany the application.

CONFIDENTIAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Teachers and administrators at Catholic Elementary Schools within the Archdiocese of Washington will complete recommendations for their 8th grade students on forms provided by the Catholic Schools Office. Two confidential recommendations from Math and English teachers are required for all 9th grade applicants who do not attend Catholic Elementary Schools within the Archdiocese of Washington, Middle School applicants and Upper School transfer applicants. The recommendation forms should be given to teachers to complete and mail directly to the Admissions Office. These forms are provided for you in this application package. We cannot accept faxed recommendations.

ACADEMIC RECORDS
Official transcripts of all grades for the past two years, results of standardized achievement and/or ability tests and records of attendance and disciplinary actions should be sent directly from the student’s current school. To avoid duplicating efforts, we ask that records not be sent until first quarter or trimester grades are available for the current school year.

TESTING
Since students apply to Connelly School of the Holy Child from many different educational experiences, we use standardized testing as one part of our evaluation process. Applicants are expected to take either the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). We recommend that the SSAT or ISEE be taken in November, December or January. Scores should be sent directly to the Admissions Office by designating Connelly School of the Holy Child as a score recipient on the registration form (SSAT School Code: 2564; ISEE School Code: 210838). Please visit the SSAT website, www.ssat.org or call (609) 683-4440 for information about registration, procedures and dates. Information about the ISEE test may be obtained from the Educational Records Bureau on the web at www.iseetest.org or by calling (800) 446-0320.

10th, 11th and 12th GRADE TRANSFER APPLICATIONS
Scores from the SSAT, ISEE or PSAT are all appropriate tests for Upper School transfer applicants. Contact the Admissions Office to discuss your particular situation to determine if appropriate testing has already been completed or if arrangements should be made to take one of these tests.

INTERVIEW
Interviews for students and parents are a part of the Connelly School of the Holy Child application process. The Admissions Office will contact you to schedule a family interview once the application is complete.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS
Incoming ninth grade students are given the opportunity to qualify for Merit Scholarships.
