For your convenience, please use the Middle School Application Checklist/Upper School Application Checklist to ensure that the applicant fulfills all admission requirements.  When considering an applicant for admission, the Admission Committee focuses on the student’s application, school visit and interview, academic records including standardized test scores and teacher recommendations.

Inquire
The first step in the admissions process is to express your interest in our school. Please contact the Admission Office for more information at 301.365.0955 or complete the Inquiry Form.

Once you have submitted the online inquiry form, you will receive an email from Holy Child with a username and password. You will need the username and password to access the Online Application.

Admissions Visit
After you have reviewed the admissions materials, please call the Admission Office to arrange a student visiting day. Upper School students are required to spend a full day with a student in the grade for which they are applying. Middle School students are required to spend a morning in the grade to which they are applying. The required admissions visit provides the opportunity for the applicant to meet students and teachers, explore classes and determine for herself whether or not Holy Child will foster her academic and personal growth. The visit should be completed before the appropriate application deadline. A limited number of visitors can be accommodated per day; therefore, we recommend that you call well in advance of the date for which you would like to schedule an appointment. We will begin to take appointments for school visits after Labor Day. Shadow visits will begin in October.

Complete the Application
The application can be completed at any time during the admission process.  Upper School Applications need to be submitted by Friday, December 9, 2011. Applications can be submitted online here. You may also download the PDF version and mail it to Holy Child by the December 9th deadline. For consideration, the prospective student must complete all of the requirements for admission.  After the application process is complete, the prospective student and family will be contacted for a family interview which is a required part of the Admissions process.

Merit Scholarship Examination

Connelly School of the Holy Child offers a limited number of Merit scholarships for incoming freshmen who are academically accomplished, regardless of a family’s financial circumstances. In awarding the scholarships the Admissions Committee will consider the applicant’s performance on the essay exam, academic record, extra-curricular activities, demonstrated leadership abilities and a strong commitment to service for others. Any additional accomplishments in the Arts will also be taken into consideration. Students who would like to be considered for a Merit Scholarship must sit for the Merit Scholarship Essay examination. Students will be notified of their awards in their acceptance packages in February.
International Applicants
The Holy Child community welcomes applications from students who currently reside outside of the United States and will be relocating to the Washington area. International students are encouraged to begin the application process early in order to plan for longer mail delivery times and to consult with a transcript evaluation service, if necessary. All application forms should be submitted in English. If your school cannot provide an official English translation of academic records and recommendations, this should not prevent you from applying to Holy Child. Please contact the Admission Office to discuss your situation.

Testing
Since students apply to Holy Child from many different educational experiences, we use standardized testing as one part of our evaluation process. Please refer to the Testing Information page for further details.
