STATE OF THE SCHOOL MEETING--THURSDAY, 2/23

NHS BLOOD DRIVE--SIGN UP NOW!    
Only a few have signed up for this year's blood drive. Do your part: sign up for our annual NHS event: TUESDAY, MARCH 6, between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
   It helps you and the whole community. Remember, each unit of blood donated saves up to three lives!! Anyone over 17 (with permission slip), including parents and faculty, can give. Sign up here.

Father-Daughter Service Project    
The Washington Middle School for Girls rehab project continues: we've done moving and painting, spackling and cleaning over several sessions over the last three months. There are two more Saturday sessions...February 25 and March 24, so mark your calendars for a few hours of donated time for a good cause. The sign-up page is now up. Click here to access the site. MarineLab Oceanography Field Trip to Key Largo, Florida    
Juniors and Seniors: We need to know THIS FRIDAY, January 27, who will be joining the amazing trip down to Key Largo, Florida to explore the Everglades, the coral reefs, and the open ocean during the week following graduation. You should have received information packets from the Science Department by now. The $500 deposit needs to be in by Friday, February 3.

Dates: Tuesday, June 5 through Saturday, June 9

Cost: Will be dependent on group size and airline flight costs at the time of booking. We estimate costs at $1,500. Priority will be given to students currently enrolled in the Oceanography elective.

MERIT EXAM THIS WEEKEND    
All 8th & 9th graders who had planned to take the Merit Exam last Saturday, please note that it has been rescheduled for THIS Saturday, January 28, at 9:00 a.m. in the library.

The game vs. Model on Saturday, January 7 has been cancelled.
Varsity BB Beats Holton to Take Magruder Tourney Trophy    
Holy Child's Varsity battled throughout an exciting contest to beat Holton Arms 57-50 to take the Magruder Holiday Tournament championship trophy.

Remember, we follow Montgomery County in all school weather closings and late openings. Check major news outlets (WTOP, etc.) with precipitation, maybe even snow, coming in this evening.

FIELD HOCKEY EARNS ISL SEMI-FINAL GAME AT HOME    
Varsity Field Hockey, with an exuberant band of supporters--topping even the home teams' meager crowd--beat Bullis yesterday 2-1 to move to the semi-final round of the ISL Tournament. The game will tip off at 3:30 p.m. at HOME. Should the team top the tough Saints of SSSA, they would play on Sunday.
