Happy first day of school to all!
Now that everyone is "oriented," it's time to get down to the business of learning. Hopefully, your daughters told you all about the first "homeroom in the gym" and all her exciting classes, teachers, and syllabi, not to mention the fabulous "boot camp" welcome from the Class of 2012!  We'll be here each Wednesday to fill you in on upcoming events, reports on our students/faculty/staff, fundraisers, tag days, and all the news you need to know. In short, the "Happenings" of the school. Feel free to send in your news (with pictures, of course) and your suggestions of what else we can do to give you the inside scoop.

This is the year of "Mission Effectiveness."
You'll be hearing those words a lot over the next several months. For now, just remember that we strive daily to work on our seven goals:
Faith ~ Community ~ Challenging Creative Curriculum ~ Justice, Peace & Compassion ~ Dignity ~ Fulfillment ~ Future
HOT LUNCH...DON'T FORGET TO ORDER
The hot lunch program is even bigger and better this year, with numerous buying AND eating options. Remember, once we hit September, you'll need to order a week in advance, so take this opportunity to get a jump on the year! It's so easy to register; Click here to go to the hot lunch page on our site for the information on how to register, and the link to the ordering site. Eat well!
SALLY FOSTER IN THE HOUSE
Yes, Sally Foster is here, with even more opportunities to get your fall gift items (wrap and more), as well as cookie dough and a local Entertainment Book. The girls will be bringing home the packets by Friday, and much of the ordering can be done online, so take a look, and be sure to contribute to the easiest fundraiser of the year.
DINNER TO GO...COOKING HELP!

If there are nights you don’t feel like cooking, we can help! Make a plan for the second Wednesday of every month to have us do the cooking for you. Wednesday, September 14 is the first date for Holy Child’s Dinner to Go! This week’s dinner for four includes your choice of veggie or meat lasagna, Caesar salad, fresh baked bread and chocolate chip cookies – enough to feed a family of four (or two with leftovers) for just $30.  Dinner is provided by Vignola’s Catering, our popular lunch caterer, so we know your family will love it. Your meal will be available for pick up between 3pm and 5:30pm. Meals for Middle School students can be picked up just outside Ms. Gaiser’s office and dinners for Upper School students can be picked up just inside the Chapel doors. This is a Prom Night fundraiser, one that you and your family will benefit from as you check off your dinner plans for that night. Click here to reserve your dinner now! Questions? Contact Shannon VanWhy at svanwhy@holychild.org.

Homework Club: Help at the Ready
Homework Club begins Wednesday, August 31 (that's today)! The Academic Support Office will again be offering homework assistance and/or a quiet place to work on Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Note that Homework Club is for Middle School and Upper School students; they will get individual attention as needed. Please come down to the basement of Connelly Hall and join us. Any questions, please write to Kathy Famulare, kfamulare@holychild.org
UPPER SCHOOL NEWS
DANCERS GET READY
Anyone interested in the Upper School Dance team, please meet in the dance studio tomorrow, Thursday, September 1, during J block.
SINGERS TAKE NOTE
All students interested in joining the Upper School Chorus should attend the organizational meeting this week on Thursday in the Music Room to hear plans for the year. Regular rehearsals will take place during J block on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Auditions  for Upper School Chorus are not required but  students should be able to carry a tune and have sense of pitch. Auditions will be held at a later date for the Connelly Camerata, a more advanced choral group limited to about 20 singers.  Students auditioning for Camerata must be members of the Upper School Chorus. Please feel free to direct questions to Choral Director, Mrs. Ann Whiteley, awhiteley@holychild .org
