A GOLDEN CELEBRATION
The BLUE/GOLD GAMES and barbecue, Saturday's Alumnae Reception, the Cardinal McCarrick mass and brunch, all truly made this a weekend to remember, despite the rain and bluster. Seeing the former principals and faculty and meeting the visiting Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus was fun for alumnae and current families, as was listening to Cardinal McCarrick's inspiring words. The food, the photos, it all made for a golden couple of days! We are reviewing all the images now, and will have photos to view shortly! Thanks to all who made this such a fantastic event.

TSUNAMI PRESENTATION
This coming Tuesday, October 11th, Mr. Gilak, father of Lucy Gilak, will be coming in to speak to the 7th and 8th grade about the earthquake/tsunami that occurred in Japan this past March. Over the summer, all 7th and 8th grade girls were required to read and write a summary about an article that addressed this incident. The nuclear engineer (who worked at Calvert Cliffs for a time) will be giving a personal perspective on the incident in addition to talking to the girls about earthquake basics, electrical power generation, nuclear power characteristics, and nuclear reactors that are close to Holy Child. He happened to be in Japan changing planes when the tsunami occurred, so this is firsthand. We are thrilled to have him come in and speak to the girls; it is a wonderful opportunity for them to expand their knowledge of the event by hearing an expert’s perspective!

9:00 AM V Equestrian Horse Show @ NFF Nothing Fancy Farm
| RESULTS | | | | | | Field Hockey Varsity Field Hockey is having a great season so far, with an undefeated record (with just a single tie). Come out and watch!
Cross Country On Saturday, October 1,Varsity runners Abby Peterson and Dorothy Hastings defeated all Bullis Varsity runners and all but two St. Stephens and St. Agnes runners in a three-team cross country meet run on the Bullis School course in Potomac, Maryland. Both sophomores held their own, running with a competitive and strong St. Stephens and St. Agnes squad. These athletes literally crossed the finished line together running times of 23:59, finishing 3nd and 4th overall on a dreary cold and damp day. Great efforts. They will be runners to watch as Holy Child continues to make its mark in ISL Cross Country.--Coach Dennis Coleman
Equestrian Holy Child had another great showing at Sunday’s Horse Show at Full Moon Farm in Finksburg, Maryland. The Key School was Champion with 34 points, however, the girls of Holy Child were just one point behind, reserve champs with 33 points. There were two schools behind us with 32 and 31 points. Maya Whitaker won her division, Hope Thomas was reserve champ in her division, and Sarah Holladay and Mackenzie Myers added points to the tally. Lizzy Cornfeld, Bernie Coyle, and Rose Meima rode beautifully. It was a very competitive show, as illustrated by the close points. The horses were great, the Holy Child girls and parents were superb and Molly Doyle did a fabulous job of coaching the girls, who all rode unfamiliar mounts. Congratulations, Tigers!
| Basketball Open Gyms | | | | | | There will be open gyms during the fall for anyone who is planning on trying out for basketball. These shoot-around sessions (not official practices) are not mandatory but a good opportunity for you to get into the gym.

We will use this space to point you to articles of interest that faculty and staff have come across in local and national media. The articles will also be posted on the Parents Resources section of the website.
