DECEMBER ARRIVES Two weeks to go before our holiday break, so our girls are hunkering down for the final rush. We have a group of Upper School girls heading off to Philadelphia for a diversity conference, another to the OAS in Washington, DC for two-plus days at the MOAS conference. Wish them all good luck.
ALSO, please see the notice below about our speaker this evening; he and his associates from the Caron Center are working with the girls in workshops just now. I just heard his presentation, and it is a MUST SEE. Tim Rader is an inspiring man, who talks about having everything in high school, and college, and starting out in his life, only to lose it to addiction.
| STOP DRUG ABUSE PRESENTATION--TONIGHT | | | | | | The Caron Center presentation tonight in the gym will feature Tim Rader, speaking about his personal battle with drug abuse and addiction. He will spend time with the Upper School and 8th grade students during the day, in both a large assembly and smaller grade-level meetings, and speak to the parents in the evening at 7 p.m. (This is open to all interested parents, including Middle School.) | | | |
| A Connelly Christmas | | | | | | Come one, come all! | ANNUAL TOY DRIVE FOR ST. AUGUSTINE'S | | | | | | Holy Child is once again sponsoring a toy drive for the children of St. Augustine School in Washington, DC. St. Augustine’s serves many financially needy students, some of whom might not otherwise receive any Christmas gifts if not for collections on their behalf. Upper School students will receive a donation envelope this week with a letter asking for cash or checks made to Holy Child to donate to the toy drive. Middle School families are also welcome to participate and can send a donation to the reception area of either building. Suggested donation is $10-$20, but smaller and larger donations are certainly welcome. Every little bit helps. We would appreciate donations by Friday, December 9 if at all possible. Questions? Contact Jean Plummer, jplummer@holychild.org Thank you for your generosity.

| ALUMNAE NOTES | | | | | | It's no surprise to us that our students are excelling once they leave our hallowed halls. Here are a few fun notes of what's happening in post-Holy Child land:
Vicky Arthur ('09), who plays field hockey for the University of Connecticut, enjoyed an exciting end-of-season tournament game. The No. 4 seed team built a 3-0 lead over No. 1 North Carolina but was unable to hang on and dropped a 4-3 double-overtime decision to the Tar Heels in the Semifinal Round of the NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship in Louisville, Ky. With the loss, UConn concludes its season with a 19-3 overall record and rounds out its third National Semifinal appearance in the last six years. UNC wins its 18th straight and improves to 22-1 overall. Vicky doesn't start, but is on the field for most of the games. Congrats for a great season.
